Set top box is free and will be given only to customers who opt for plans (doesn't include combo 199 plan).

What if I opt for 849 plans, take free settop box and after a month start using 199 combo weekly plans since it doesnt need a base plan??? Will I still have access to OTT apps?

They had a comp at my society today and these are the apps you will get access to:
Hotstar , SonyLiv, Voot, ALT Balaji, Paramount, Eros Now, Jiocinema, Jio Savan, disney

On asking he said yes data consumed by these apps will be deducted from the broadband data, Can anyone confirm?
Yes

^ well if OTT data will be deducted from plans then I guess 699 and 849 plans are useless...even 500GB in 1299 plans might not be enough if you watch too much TV....

Seem like getting airtel Dish would be better and cheaper than opting for a costly Internet plan.

I spoke to cc just now and they said the 199 plan cannot be used as a stand alone plan. You need a base plan. 199 can be used only as a top up if your base plan data is exhausted.

this makes sense , else nobody would opt for their STB.

cc also said that if you recharge 199 plan, it will be queued up indefinitely until you opt for a base plan and use up its data. So I will advise users not to do 199 recharge , it will go waste.

Good question that I didn't ask Jio CC. I think you still can retain it.

@Dhiraj I did that but cc told me that it can be used as as stand alone plan and a base plan isn't necessary :/
