@varkey Please post specs and price.

@vishalrao Yep, heaven't decided yet though. Planning to evaluate few options, if you have suggestions, please do tell! :)

I have only tried pfSense which runs on a 1 core (1 GB Ram) VM in my old laptop. It works flawlessly. The good thing is I can push all my traffic through NordVPN whenever I need to pull something from transit (after VPN I can max out my 50 Mbps connection even with 1 connection).

Cannot comment on the others but from what I have read around on the internet the community for pfSense is really strong so if you wanna do something out of the blue (which is not in the documentation or something) you will find a lot of help.

@varkey go with pfSense or OPNSense. I have been using pfSense (dual boot OPNSense) for more than 4 years now (shared the details earlier IIRC over PM) and believe me there's no reason to regret it even when it's handling 3 WANs, IDS/IPS, DHCP, and pfBlocker NG for my home Gb network with multi devices including NAS boxes etc. For IDS/IPS choose Snort (single threaded IIRC uses only 1 core) or Suricata (multi threaded multi-core). Snort has way better support and signatures. I subscribed to premium signatures for home users at $30/year.

The best part? It's all free, opensource and you will get heck of a lot of support from literally n number of sources including YT, Reddit, the pfSense/Opnsense forums among others. The hitch, it does get a little complex to set up but once done it chugs on for years unless you need to add or remove WANs, feature sets (packages) etc. Just remember to back up your configuration regularly. Need any help whilst setting up just shout out and I'll be happy to assist in any which way I can.

Cheers!

PS - what's the config of that box you purchased? I am considering a Qotum Core Core i5/i7 chip with 6 LAN port for a future upgrade.

PPS - ok got the box details from your previous post a J1900.. Thanks

Thanks guys! Yes, I'm more inclined towards pfsense or opnsense. I'm still waiting for the 64 GB SSD I ordered from AliExpress before setting it up.

@C3PO It's a J3160 with 4 intel NICs. I didn't opt for wireless. I ordered this specific model, cause of the enclosure, it appeared compact. ;)
