Nokia G-140W-F bridge mode?

Sorry for the long post!

Guys i tried to bridge this with my Netgear X4S (R7800) back when March when i changed to Airtel Fiber but nothing worked. I searched google and used the alternate method of using DMZ and configuring both routers. I posted the method earlier today on reddit as a solution for people like me as i saw some posts with similar issues. I have been using this for months and it is working perfectly. My pc is connected to my X4S using Netgear A7000 wifi adapter and there are no speed or nat issues in online gaming either. All devices are connected through my X4S and have disabled radios of my Airtel. So sharing it here too if someone wants to try this method if bridge still doesn't work.

Coincidentally my telephone was not working today so Airtel support changed the modem and i now have the newer Nokia G-2425G-A. One immediate change i noticed is now you can't change any settings on the Network-WAN page and nothing is editable unlike the G-140W-F. See the pics below:

Anyway these settings do not matter in this method and already am using it on the new modem. I know its not as simple as bridge mode but what works for me and worth a try for those like me.

Settings for Airtel Nokia Modem+Router (192.168.1.1 in my case). Both router should not be connected with each other when configuring either.

1 - LAN Settings: To get your other router working seamlessly first you need to know the MAC address of the other router you are connecting to the airtel one. This is usually written itself on the router at the back. This is because you need to setup DMZ on your airtel router for your other router (step 2). For that you need to give that router a static ip from your airtel router. Use any one from its DHCP range (i set mine for 192.168.1.7 for example).

2 - DMZ: Enable DMZ as below after you have added a static entry for your other router.

3 - Finally DNS, Firewall and UPnP settings need to be like this (if its not already)

Rest of the settings don't need to be touched. Now for your other router settings.

4 - Internet Setup (WAN): Since Airtel will be making internet connection you don't need to using your ISP login settings on your other router and let them remain on default. Here are mine on my Netgear for example:

netgear-router-1.jpg

5 - Lan Settings: My netgear auto-switched from 192.168.1.1 to 10.0.0.1 once it detected a conflict with airtel. You can use any ip adress you want like 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.0.1 etc

6 - Nat and UPnP: Nat should be disabled on this router as it creates a conflict with airtel where it is enabled

7 - Now with both routers configured connect them using ethernet cable. The cable should go into internet (coloured) port of your other router.

Hope this works for you if bridge mode is not working.

Finally got bridge mode enabled from back end and connected my Netgear R7000 through PPPOE. It was very straightforward once the backend team enabled port 4 for bridge mode. I also had to delete WAN profile in the Nokia ONT so that R7000 directly logged in. Also, checked for double NAT issue which wasn't there.

The router/GPON has a telnet interface. Unfortunately, the console does not provide a facility to configure the router,

Internally it is running the same software as G140WC,

There seems to be and old config in the router,

I have gained Root Access to it , ping me if it helps , ill share you instruction.

So they haven't done anything from their side till now. I just went ahead and edited the router html and removed the <fieldset> disabled attribute and was able to change the settings on the WAN page successfully. Now only VOIP is provisioned on the Nokia router and I'm able to PPPoe from my router. The changes seem persistent on reboot, not sure if they'll force the settings from the backend again.
Hi @Jay, I'm stuck in a similar situation that you were earlier. I have a static IP (from Airtel) and I'm trying to set my WAN to bridge mode so that I can use a different router that works over ethernet to do my bidding. However, when I remove the disable(s) in various fields and click on Save, the Save doesn't go through and /wan_config_glb.cgi?config keeps failing. I'm guessing the config is being rejected when the AJAX request on clicking Save is trying to send it. Is there a specific WAN bridge configuration that will actually succeed? I've searched the internet for a while now, and looks like you are closest to the problem I am trying to solve! Please help!

ONU is not locked to a specific customer.
I think airtel is not mac binding in thier ftth connections.
I'm not sure though.

We have a FortiGate firewall and our Airtel Broadband randomly drops ping every 20-25 minutes. Is there any solution? We spoke to Airtel support and they said they don't have Mac release option for their Broadband service so they can't configure this.
