Just got 1 Gbit FTTH via a Nokia G-2425G-A today, sadly speeds are capped around 300-380 Mbps and support said they'd fix it and also took my request for a Static IP. I had spoken to the sales team on many occasions asking about details of the type of fiber, wavelength and connector type (mine uses SC) but got no details except connector type. They insisted I could not use my own optical module or my own router.

Poked around the router today and its appears to be a Mediatek SoC made as a white label product and found no useful technical information about it. I read Can someone explain Optics Module Status? Is mine good or bad? | Internet General Discussions and thought it might be useful to collect the SNR and operating temps of the modules Airtel provides as they will have different manufacturers over time to help assess performance.

Here's mine, please post yours with the Airtel device make and model number:

Airtel branded Nokia G-2425G-A :-

Laser Bias Current (ONT ANI-ONT-Side Optical Measurements):

7880 uA

Optics Module Voltage (ONT ANI-ONT-Side Optical Measurements):

3250000 uV

Optics Module Temperature (ONT ANI-ONT-Side Optical Measurements):

47.20 °C

Rx Optics Signal Level at 1490 nm (ONT ANI-ONT-Side Optical Measurements):

-19.47 dBm

Tx Optics Signal Level at 1310 nm (ONT ANI-ONT-Side Optical Measurements):

2.70 dBm

Lower (ONT ANI-ONT-Side Optical Measurements-Optical Threshold):

-27.00 dBm

Upper (ONT ANI-ONT-Side Optical Measurements-Optical Threshold):

0.00 dBm

Changing the ONT won't make a difference and the Nokia is one of the better ones. Not sure about Dasan's fibre interface module as the only thing it has over the Nokia model is the better wifi capability. They haven't "capped" it at their end. Get them to test it out at your premises using their machine.

I too get sub par speeds on my 1 Gbps on my Tata Sky connection and while it gives >900 mbps on their so called test laptop it's about the same 300-400 Mbps via my router which they say they are not responsible for. So I will try Airtel 1 Gbps for just a month to see if it can deliver the speeds they promise otherwise its back to 300 Mbps which either way seems to be a sweet spot for my connections.

@Strykar that's encouraging to hear. My Airtel plan expires on 10/10 and I will check a 1 Gbps for a month before subscribing for a longer period. Don't want to go through the TSBB experience again.
