Nokia G-140W-F bridge mode?

Airtel has given me a Nokia - G-2425G-A router

I have been trying to change my WiFi password, but when i save the credential, the router generates some random password which is not the one i entered.

Any idea, why this is happening, spoke to the airtel cc & they insist me to change wifi password through their app.

Has anyone tried MAC filtering with this router ?

Ok guys, so here's an update. I raised a request with Airtel for setting my Nokia GPON in bridge mode. Here is what happened:
  1. I received a call from their networking engineer to understand my requirement.
  2. He told that we need to enable bridge mode for this router from the backend, which will take 1-2 hours.
  3. Anyway, the next day they came to my house for configuring the router.
  4. All they did was change the Port 4 in LAN settings to "Bridge Mode". Didn't change anything in the TR069 WAN connection (still in PPPoE).
  5. Then I configured my router to PPPoE mode and put in my username/password. The connection was made successfully, but I was highly doubtful that it would be a double NAT.
  6. To my surprise, on checking the "tracert" and WAN status in my router, both were showing external IP address, which confirms that I am directly connected via my router. Screenshots below.
  7. I confirmed again with their engineer about this situation and whether they have indeed changed anything in the backend to support this. To which he replied, that you can try deleting the TR069 connection from WAN and check, but it will again come again as a config in 15-30 minutes from the server.
  8. I actually deleted the TR069 connection and the internet was indeed working. I am yet to receive the default configuration from the Airtel servers even after 30 mins.
I would request you guys to try raising a request at your end regarding this and see whether this works for you guys.

I haven't received the Airtel's updated configuration for the TR069 WAN profile even after 24 hours. So it's pretty safe to say that this solution works.

So they haven't done anything from their side till now. I just went ahead and edited the router html and removed the <fieldset> disabled attribute and was able to change the settings on the WAN page successfully. Now only VOIP is provisioned on the Nokia router and I'm able to PPPoe from my router. The changes seem persistent on reboot, not sure if they'll force the settings from the backend again.
Hi Jay,

I am in a similar situation. Airtel upgraded my VDSL to Fiber today and Install the Nokia G2425G-A. I think PPPOE Connection got auto-configured and the Internet started working. Now I want to change the Nokia G2425G-A to Bridge mode and do the PPPOE Login from My Asus RT-AC58U router.
I could change the LAN - Port 4 to Bridge mode.
I could not change anything in the WAN Settings. There are 2 Connections in WAN , VOIP for landline phone and the Internet Connection.
I could not edit / delete the current WAN PPPOE Connection. All options in WAN are greyed out.
I have raised a ticket with Airtel. Their engineer visited and was clueless why all settings are greyed out. He was seeing this model for the first time.
Could you give the steps for unlocking the WAN Settings in details which will enable us to edit / delete / create WAN connection.

Thanks
Styler.

What Nokia Model do you have. The G2425G-A ? Were the WAN Settings greyed out and locked ?

Backup the config first so you can restore if something goes wrong. Here is what I did.

Right click on the WAN settings page for Internet click on Inspect/inspect element. You'll see the html code on the bottom of the browser. Ctrl F and search for fieldset. You'll most likely see two entries with <fieldset disabled=""> or <fieldset disabled>. Change both to just <fieldset> and then click on the delete button at the end of the page. Then follow the instructions by tellanand in the previous page.

This is basically step 2 of the above process.

edit: doesn't work anymore

Jay -Thanks for the quick help. It was a tough task to find where to set the VLAN to 100 in my Asus RT-AC58U Router, it was hidden under LAN-IPTV-Manual Settings-Internet. Found this in an ASUS Forum. It has VLAN ID and Priority which is 0 by default. There is no Tagged / Un-tagged. I guess I will just need to set VLAN ID to 100 and leave Priority to 0.
I will just wait for a day to see if Airtel Unlocks the device because that will be best. If they don't do it I will just follow the 2 steps and accomplish bridging for my Nokia G2425G-A Router. I will report back once it is done.

Thanks to this thread. Airtel was insisting on changing my alcatel lucent i-240g-d ONT device to new Nokia after a plan change. I have insisted them to not do so, lets see. Hopefully i-240-gd supports 200mbps, fingers crossed.

Okay people here is an update, and a very interesting one at that.
If you all are following I got the Airtel Nokia G2425G-A Router installed yesterday. The WAN Settings were totally locked in the Router, could not change or delete the Internet Connection which was making the PPPOE connection.
Today morning the Airtel Person called to ask me to check if I am able to try the bridge connection again. I thought maybe they have unlocked the settings and I can change the WAN Settings. I checked the WAN Settings but they were still locked. I had switched Port 4 to Bridge mode and connected it to the WAN port of my Asus router.
Now is the surprise.
Both the Nokia and ASUS have made PPOE connections and both have got different Public IP Addresses.
Internet is working through my ASUS (Wireless and LAN, Subnet 192.168.0.1) and also through the Nokia G2425G-A (Through 1-3 LAN Ports and through the Wireless, Subnet 192.168.1.1)
But here is the catch. I have taken a plan of 200 MBPS, and I was getting over 200 MBPS through the NOKIA before this happened.
After Airtel did something in the backend to allow 2 PPPOE Logins for the same account the speed on each has been capped at 100 MBPS.
I made no changes in Either of the two modems except for putting Port 4 of the Nokia Modem on Bridge mode.
I am confused - whether I should be happy to get 2 public IPs with the speed split or would I be better off to get full 200 MBPS on the ASUS Router through bridge mode.
I think this is exactly what they did for ten24bytes too. They enabled 2 PPPOE Logins for the same account, and internet works through both the Nokia and the bridged Router through different Public IP Addresses. ten24bytes deleted the PPPOE connection in his Nokia, ten24bytes
I would just recommend you to check for speed. Are you getting full plan speed through the bridged connection ?
I have to report back to the Airtel Technician on this, I don't know what to tell him.

The Alcatel modem doesn't support speeds above 200 Mbps as informed by the backend engineer. I am already on the gigabit plan so switching to the Alcatel was not an option for me, even though it is a modem only device.

@Styler I am getting full speeds Tx/Rx (in fact 20% more) all the time. And even now I just have a single WAN profile configured for my phone.

And this is how the Save/Delete buttons appear for each WAN profile at the bottom:

Now, that you have mentioned that you are getting 200 Mbps, it is good. The previous issue might be because your WAN port in the router might not be registering as a 1000 Mbps (gigabit) port. Also unlike your, my Nokia GPON doesn't provide any internet connection on the other 3 ports as the TR069 profile is deleted.
