Jio Sim experiences with iPhone/iPad

Hi. I managed to get a sim and tele-verify using my iPhone (6s Plus). As soon as I inserted the sim, I got a carrier update. But, Facetime and iMessage aren't getting activated as there's zero balance in the account. So, is there any way to send international SMS and make international calls...
