Which Bands / Frequencies will be used by Mobile Operators in India for their 4G Services?
Reason for asking : I want to upgrade my phone & would like to get the one with 4G Option. There are more than 1 variants available for each model offering different bands / frequencies in each variant. I don’t want to get the one with 4G but will not be able to use due to incompatible Band / Frequency!

In India, 4G spectrum has been allotted on 2300Mhz band only, and I guess there are hardly any handsets by big manufacturers which support that. The industry is trying to get 1900 Mhz band from the armed forces and shift so that we get on par internationally.

Yeah that's sad there are hardly any handset which supports the 4g bands allocated here. Only options seems compatible are - Huawei ascend p1(2012 phone not so great), and the latest iShit  (not sure of the model number on sale in India if it's 1529 & 1530 then it'll be 4g compatible) Hopefully newer devices will be supporting the 2300 Mhz band

Its called TD LTE band 40. optus australia is using same band along with some middle eastern and one chinese operators.current handsets which support it areiphone 5s and 5c indian , australian(optus), middle east version only.LG g2 (lg promised lte upgrade via software update)samsung s4 mini is said to supporting it though i always have doubt they dot the same in india where they use downgraded hardware for same model nos.some Huawei phone is said to be supporting it, even launched in India, never heardmicromax is said to be introducing with Reliance jio launch.

Thanks ChaiBiskutBhaihttps://broadband.forum/user/38363-chaibiskutbhai/, rj27https://broadband.forum/user/21908-rj27/ & igloo for your inputs, I sincerely appreciate.
I was informed that India will have same Band / Frequency as China (like igloohttps://broadband.forum/user/8187-igloo/ said).
@ igloohttps://broadband.forum/user/8187-igloo/ : I doubt if one can use 4G just by upgrading software. If so no one will bring out so many variants of each model. What about Hardware requirement for 4G?
Any idea when will Reliance Jio launch their 4G services? Will they roll out Pan India or step by step?

Hardware needed is already present inside handset. Its just some software needed which would be provided with update. Hence LG G2 (supposedly) mentioned to support LTE after upgrade.

i think r jio is expected to launch in dec around dhirubai birthday. no one is sure we are listening that for last two years. but yeah fiber rollout is being done in delhi here. in last shareholder meet mukesh bhai also , mentioned that they will launch wireline broadband also. i am more interested in that because never seen someone laying fiber in front of my house to provide tower backhaul link.Amount they are spending is massive.

Now everyone can use 4g at 2g rates, for this you will have to own a dual SIM phone with two 2g Sims, then 2g+2g=4G........ :D:lol::p
