Tata Sky added Hindi GECs on day 1, but always failed to add regional channels. Even they took some time to add Star's Marathi & Bangla GEC. Many other regional channels are still missing. Not sure if they would ever add it toh yes! Music channels too. I would like to see atleast 1 channel of B4U or Zing or Music India
Agantuk,I guess you did not the past pages of TS...When started TS was just having the SUN Channel.. also they took much time to get SUN channels on their platform.. It was big hope and start of TS with only Vijay in their platform in Tamil Nadu...Slowly they have added other channels... and recent addition was Raj and another Music channels.. which was a long time expectation from TS.. Moreover RAJ is one among the very popular channel started with SUN channels period..The reason to say TS is bad here... the frequency of adding the new tamil channels and fake answers from them.. When addition of new channels asked TS just gave the reply, they have no space in their Transponders... But by saying this they have added another language channels...more over.. addition of new Hindi and Bangla/Oriya channels ....DD Telugu - All DD channels should present in DTH.... you know how many time i wrote to get this channel in TS....At last they added this in Active services with small screen... Same for NDTV Hindu....The story continues....Addition of South regional (Kannada) also happened recently.. But for Tamil.. the focus is very less...May be TS customers are less in TN and they focusing very less here....The attention why TS gives for buying their connection in TS is not happening for adding new channels.
On the contrary, most of Tata Sky's customers and for that matter, those of other DTH operators barring Dish and Airtel, are from the South. That is also the reason why all of them have far higher number of regional channels for South Indian languages as opposed to the North. To get an idea, compare the number of regional channels for Punjabi or Marathi or some other North Indian regional language. Tamil and Telugu score by a huge margin.
There are many many channels in South Indian languages like Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam. It would be difficult for any DTH operator to carry all the channels. But all of them try their best to provide maximum channels. Tata Sky is also providing 10-11 channels for these languages, though they still miss some of 'important' channels.

Yes Tata Sky is lagging in Regional channel front. This is due to their Transponder space. I wonder how are they gonna manage in future with MPEG-2 Technology. I guess they shud now change to MPEG-4, I understand that this wud involve a huge costs to them but do they have any other option? NO.
They shud replace all old TS boxes with new ones. New customers are already given MPEG-4 compatible STB's, so are Tata Sky+ and TS HD boxes (MPEG-4 Compatible).
Tata Sky shud remove dis Nepal 1, News 24, India TV, DY365 and replace with some music and ten action, ten cricketDoes anyone even watch dese channels? :O
