Personally I will not advise to get the
Acer M3 hotspot for a few reasons.
First jio works but you will face issues like no internet because jio is probably trying to block it. Using 5G on my
iPhone or my
pixel first then using the sim in the
router seems to fix the issue. Also the sim ejector tray is flimsy and sometimes you will have to work a bit to eject the tray.
Second ..the Functionality is very limited. You cannot even change anything like wifi/subnet/gateway IP and you cannot even use simple features like port forwarding in case you want to use a
VPN with that functionality(VPN doesn’t work too).
Third the USB tethering on
mac doesn’t even works even the device has a separate option to enable it for mac. i have tried it with my 14 M2 Pro …it just detects it as a usb storage or something.
Fourth - the Openvpn client doesn’t even works. I have tried with multiple vpns and even if it shows connected but the IP lookup comes as the sim provider
Also the subnet of the usb tethering and wifi is different and they cannot be configured. So those 2 devices cannot connect with each other
With Airtel I have 0 issues..only buy this device if you want a very restricted 5G hotspot. Its even more restricted than the jiofi devices except the unlocked sim.
