Hello,
I am looking to buy a 5g router so as to use with my jio sim. Especially using it for tru 5g. I read somewhere on this forum that zte mc801a is having issue while using it with jio.
Can any one help me out with the routers which will work with jio.
Thanks.
You have to check with Jio customer care because True5G will work only on the device which is whitelisted at their end as 5G compatible mobile device, 5G routers are very expensive in India you can use cheap mobile phones like POCO and share internet via USB to ethernet converter
Using 5G router is frowned upon by Jio as it becomes a competitor to their Air Fiber business. Many people have mentioned that Jio blocked 5G data on their Sims after inserting into 5G Router or some had downright No-Signal. My Asus Enduro router stopped working. Putting Airtel or Vodafone sim works. So it’s like a very random Hit or Miss experience.
As suggested above, a cheap tethered phone would work with contraption with USB OTG enabling data to come out and charging current to pass through. Then you can use a Realtek based Type C to RJ45 adapter to feed into your router. Enable ethernet tethering on your Android. (Buy phone after researching this if ethernet tethering is supported or not) This is a janky solution.
@invisible007 I regularly use my 5+ yr old OP Nord USB tethered to my router for 10-15 hours without any issue. No heating issue. The phone is practically free and go the router for 2.8 K on Amazon during sale.
