Hello all,Recently I upgraded my Reliance Broadband connection from 75kbps to 150kbps, but my download speeds are not crossing 100kbps.I tried checking it on my friend laptop who has 300kbps connection. So when I log in with my username and password from his modem, I get proper download speed of around 140-160kbps.I am using this connection on Ubuntu Linux 7.10 and Win XP Home editionAny help will be appreciatedThanks in advance.

Hello all,

Recently I upgraded my Reliance Broadband connection from 75kbps to 150kbps, but my download speeds are not crossing 100kbps.

I tried checking it on my friend laptop who has 300kbps connection. So when I log in with my username and password from his modem, I get proper download speed of around 140-160kbps.

I am using this connection on Ubuntu Linux 7.10 and Win XP Home edition

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks in advance.

How can you get a speed of 140 - 160 kbps download, you Joking.....

Max download speed for 300kbps is around 50kbps +/-5, not more than that.

Please confirm it

I guess you getting confused.

75kbps connection should give around =75/8=9.375 KBps +/- 2
150kbps connection should give around =150/8=18.75 KBps +/- 2
300kbps connection should give around =300/8=37.5 KBps +/- 2

When I am using my friend 300kbps DSL line in my modem or his and use my 150kbps username and password, I get around 18-20 KBps

While, when I use my own 150kbps DSL line in my modem. I get around 13KBps which is roughly (100/8=12.5KBps)

I believe they have cap my connection line and need to uncap it or cap it to a higher speed say 200kbps or so.

Hope this clear my problem to you and others

Cheers!
