I have a prepaid vodafone connection since the last 3 years, the catch with my number is that its not on my name ( i cant even arrange for the id proof of the guy on whose name the number is)

I went to the vodafone store and they suggested me to get my number converted to postpaid - which i dont want !!

Under the MNP, i wanted to know if its possible that I port my number to Aircel or idea or any other network and submit 'my' Identity proof to them ?? What can be the problems that i can face ??

Idea and reliance people just said that its not possible to submit some one else's id, i need the same id which was provided in getting my vodafone number. Whereas, Aircel and MTS people are ready to do it...will it be that i'll be stuck ?

whats behind the scenes that i'm not aware of ? Is there a guideline that says that you need the same id proof ??

see, operators who are mouth loaded with customers will never accept forged documents.operators who are desperate for customers might go to a extent of taking somebody else document also. also you never know, to your surprise they might take you on board with ur documents and after 3 months might terminate your no. saying forged documents.they will do this after showing considerable amount of customer to TRAI and depending upon your usage. my friend, last few years as technology has grown , orginasation, people have become ruthless and selfish. people who make organisation can go to a extent of vertually murduring you to fullfill their selfish needs. Customer delight and values all are gone words. not only communication industry, all other industry has become monster.i wish if i would have been in 1970s or 80s

Simple. Just go to any Vodafone outlet (along with your photograph+Address proof+Identity Proof) & Tell them that you got the call from CustomerCare & they asked you to resubmit the documents. Then obtain the Pre-Paid CAF(Customer Application Form) & fill the CAF with your personal details & mention the address as same as on address proof which you gonna attach. Its very important to mention the SIM number(Printed backside of the SIM) alongwith it's 10digit mobile number. Submit the CAF & dont forget to take acknowledgment for the same.

Wait for 7working days & then logon(or create one if you dont have id) to "My Account" on VODAFONE.IN
Once you login, you can easily figure-out whether your name is associated with your mobile number or NOT. But in most of the cases, it requires 7-10 working days.

Once your name attached with your number, then you have to wait for 90days(bcoz they consider it as a fresh activation) & after 90days you're allowed to switch to any operator.

Believe me, this method will work. :iplay:

I am planning to shift to Idea.....Of what i have heard till now is - any "Prepaid" balance standing to our name, when we switch, gets forfeited & we dont get anything out of it.....Is this true, or just a myth?? If its just a myth, then i can switch over right now itself, coz i am fed up of giving away my balance to Vodafone. Their charges, especially STD and all are pathetic - Idea has far better plans that can suit me.
