Aadhaar Number is basically being pushed as a replacement for Pan Card

The transparency gap between citizens (who build and maintain the democracy) and politicians(who claim credit and enjoy fruits of citizens hard work) is ever widening. .
There are approximately three crore taxpayers in this group, who will now have to select from a drop down in the form and write the exact income against each one of the ‘other sources’.

Other sources of income include income from lotteries, prize money, interest incomes from savings and fixed deposits, family pension and gambling.

Officials said the government seeks to get a handle on almost all sources of a tax payer’s income essentially to weed out the well-off from paying minimum tax and ensure better compliance.

While kickbacks/bribes donations to political parties are made anonymous, so that citizens cannot know who owns sponsors the .current govt or change of govt.

It is likely that if a person's PAN becomes inoperative it will be treated as if the individual is not holding the PAN and he/she would be unable to conduct financial transactions where quoting of PAN is mandatory.

The rule regarding the consequences of not linking PAN with Aadhaar was revised in the Budget of July 2019. Prior to this amendment, if PAN was not linked with Aadhaar, then PAN would have become invalid. It would be treated as if you never had a PAN. The rule was revised and the word 'invalid' was substituted with 'inoperative' to protect past transactions using PAN done by the PAN card holders.

PAN-Aadhaar linking deadline extended to December 31

Earlier, the deadline to PAN with Aadhaar was September 30, 2019.
