ACT no longer offering static IPs?

@humblefool Just curious though, what are the use cases for which your friend needs a static IP address? Or it just due to the lack of a dynamic public IP address?

I am not sure. But Just for Hobby projects I guess.

It was one time 2500 here in BLR

Agree. This is a BS reason.

Companies in our country just dish out some stupid reasons when they are incapable to provide services.BSNL atleast in BLR is not NATed YET so we can still set up a DDNS service this is not possible with act(I am aware there are alternative ways to Host a server at home).

As of now BSNL broadband is not using NAT anywhere in India.

Old ISPs like Airtel, BSNL got huge ipv4 address blocks for dirt cheap prices and still have sizeable chunk of addresses unused.
So they provide public ips for fixed line broadband service and also provide static ip on demand. But newer ones like small ISP, Jio etc don't have large ip blocks and cannot provide unique ip for each customer so they use CG-NAT.

as per irinn 2017 rule one isp can only get 1k snats for more u need to give llp proprietrhip pvt ltd firms .. and in one block u will get 256 ips for one year costing around 20-22k including gst and after 1year only ips u have on ur network will be charges remaning will be terminated.. there are many cat c vno other firms who buys ip n sell to other isps for profit ..they just need a bgp router to implement on their network..
