The news is true and i managed to get a snapshot of the channel.
Do a chennel search if you don't see it on the menu list.

Clarity (which is the first priority of sungroup) of this channel is also exceptional.

Though the Sun network announced the opening of this channel in cable from Sunday..it was available even by Saturday in cable also....SD has comdey thirai in addition...looks like through cable, tamil comedy will be available for all cable subscribers and through SD for those people who do not have tamil channels through cable.I find that outside TN and Kerala,Tamil channels are not available in other states including places like Hyderabad,Mumbai.Some places provide just one Tamil channel.SD will provide comedy channel for such subscribers...but will it be a big attraction?
