the problem is that the new features in the PDF format like support for 3D components would take a lot of time to be available in these third party applications. but yeah it would work for 99% of the users of PDF format. Adobe is making bad decisions. Microsoft now has an additional benefit of promoting the XPS format!

It is the best tool if you intend to only read a pdf.
