As I am on 1 gbps plan, I want to use full 1 gbps duplex.
But since my lan port is 1 gbps on desktop. I can't fully use it as duplex.
Should I use additional PCI LAN card of 2.5 Gbps to achieve full 1 gbps duplex.
Or what to do?

Any suggestions?

You could give it a go @Vickey007, though from what I noticed, I could almost get 800 up and 900 down simultaneously on my laptop's 1GbE Port. But your use case requires a constant full duplex 1Gig speeds, I presume.

I think first you need to have an ONT with minimum 2.5G LAN port, then you need to have 2.5G Ethernet dongle, like USB C to Ethernet Adapter if you are connecting to your Laptop else you need to have a router/switch that support 2.5G. Then only you'll get full 1 Gbps bandwidth.

@tr1k0N4 bro, i tested on my laptop and desktop both, by setting speed &Duplex as 1 Gbps Duplex, but max combined speed I get 1.3 to 1.5 Gbps. but in actual it was 1.2 Gbps. Maybe depends on network card, but can't be sure.

@a.banerjee My ont have 2.5 G LAN port, i do not want to use in my laptop, i want to use it on my desktop, though i do have type C port in desktop too but i am looking for PCI Card option, so that i can get full 1 gbps duplex in my desktop.

@shantam2005 you must be in a city where the connection is provided by LCO instead of Airtel directly. I’m also at such a place. I think Airtel doesn’t want to commit 1gbps speeds but will not put a 300mbps (advertised) cap for you. Try to upgrade to 1gbps if you want it and see what you get. If you’re not satisfied, roll back.

@Gaurav15 . Yes I'm in an LCO city. In my Airtel app, there is no plan visible beyond 300 Mbps. If I subscribe to 300 Mbps plan it gives me 360 Mbps speed only, have tried it out.

@Vickey007 950Mbps is the max speed of a 1Gbps port. Try changing the speedtest servers and see if it's consistent. My JioFiber gives me 945-950Mbps DL/UL on a 1Gbps Link, and 996-999Mbps DL/950-975Mbps UL on a 2.5Gbps Link.
