if recharge is done for 3G data but due to crappy network connection goes to 2G data use instead. Main talking balance gets deducted ? or it goes from 3G data only ?

^ should be going from 2G balance logically.
Backward compatibility doesn't come at a cost.
I've used aircel and Airtel that way.
