When they said, " Activating 3G will result in deactivation of your previous 2G data plans ".
They actually mean it. There could be some flaws or some marketing fundas that resulted in 3G speeds for free.
Don't get confused, you are just getting what you are paying for. Rs98 for 2G network as simple as that.

i am not getting 2G edge speeds.. speed is better than that.. unlike edge even youtube is working fine with minimal pause..but not super fast like 4-5 days back..
and my phone is on 3G mode and AFAIK i should be charged Rs.15/MB because i am not subscribed to a 3G plan but this is not happening

the confusion is
ifi go in 2G mode then i get slow edge speed and free data is deducted
same in 3G mode speeds are slower than 3-4 days back and fluctuating so cant be sure whether it is network problem or congestion..
i thought if i use 3G mode then i should get full speed and balance deduction which is not the case..

I know your situation. Most people get into this situation to get free 3G speeds for Rs98 But, in your case Airtel has activated 3G on your number. Enjoy the situation. I mean Airtel is just interested to increase their 3G customer list anyhow.
Try sending 3G to 121 stop the service restart your phone remove the sim insert it again. Stay on GSM mode.

when two plans two recharges two network modes... all are confused...

Looks like i am another victim just like you, i have a post paid plan and is on 99Rs GPRS, when they started 3g, My phone (android) automatically switched to 3g.then i got a message saying Airtel 3g free trail is activated on my phone. So in couple of days i downloaded close to 4+ gigs, now i got a message from CC saying i crossed the credit limit of 1500, and i have to pay close to 70k, i called up CC and spoke to them as to what these charges are and they wouln't tell what they are, all they say is it is anapproximate amount and there will be discounts and usage charges etc that will reflected only when the bill is generated. Now i am confused what that free trial means.would they diduct all those charges since i am on free trial and the actual 3g itself is NOT activated. ??@emptymt : how much did you have to pay eventually??Did anyone have a similar experience. Please share. Any which ways i am not ready to pay that hefty charges for something they claim is free trail. Thanks folks.
