Airtel 3G Launched in Chennai and Coimbatore

Just to update all, am still waiting to get the confirmation SMS on activation of 3G on my number. When I called, they said I will get it any moment....but that moment has not yet come from yesterday....

well here in Mysore i activated 3G , the service is activated in just a minute. i opted for their crap 9rs 10mb plan just for curiosity. the speed hovers between 1mbps to 1.5mbps.

I had Edge pack running before I activated 3G on my mobile. So as per the balance, I still have 1.6 GB of free data left

Once you activate 3G all your EDGE package become deactivate. Just check with CC. You may be on Pay as you go package-Kannan M

Been using it for the past one week. Just the "GPRS/Edge" pack is getting deducted, no change in the main balance (am in prepaid).

Anyways I dont mind if the main balance too is deducted as I will be moving to BSNL once the balance (its a lot) finishes up!

You are the lucky one. I am having postpaid corporate connection. After activate 3G the 2GB package was deactivated. I had fight with Airtel to get back 2GB and deactivate 3G.

Post paid always has hassles, I migrated to Airtel prepaid last yearThis trick (3G using 2G pack) was first mentioned by Dhananjayk, he is also using it the same way!
