Has anyone tried Airtel's 4G network? I want to get one for my ipad 3, but the CC says that it can be used only through a dongle, and even the 3rd gen ipad wont support it. I told him that ipad 3 has 4g LTE support, but he says that airtel uses some USSD protocol shit, and so it wont support it... Is there some truth in that, or is it just a money making scheme to make everyone buy their dongles?

Ok got some news on that...

The 4G LTE that Indian telecom operators are talking about - including the one thatAirtelhad deployed in one of the North-Eastern states and also the ones that Reliance and others are talking about - belong to TDD LTE (Time Division Duplexing - Long Term Evolution) that runs on 2300 MHz frequency spectrum, and not 2100 MHz.

India went in for the TDD mode because it did not have the luxury to use large frequency band, that FDD calls for, as it is not available in the country for auctioning.

So the new ipads wont have 4G just yet.... :mad ():

I got this connection in Whitefield-Bangalore area. Speed is decent. Hovering between 15-25Mbps. I have one question though which neither customer care or sale person could answer effectively. Airtel claims that it gives 10 movies free in first month of use and then 149rs for unlimited movies from next month. My question is watching these 10 free movies will come under my data limit which is 9GB?Let me know if anyone has used these free movies.
