While, it can be disconnected, there is a fee associated with it. But, we wouldn't pay the actual rental. It's called "safe custody" fee. I don't remember how much I paid. Please call 121 to get to know the current fee. But, I do know that it was refunded to me when I complained about pesky calls to reactivate my connection just after 2 months into "safe custody".

We can put the connection under safe custody for a maximum of 3 months, then the actual plan would be reactivated. Probably, we can call 121 and reactivate "safe custody" again. Not sure how it goes. The fee is same irrespective of how many days / weeks or months (max of 3) we opt for safe custody.

@pothi Q1. For extend the time period of safe custody to more 3 months, do we have to submit more security deposit or just need a verbal request?

Q2. Can this security deposit adjust in upcoming bill after start using the connection?

Q3. If we need refund, how they transferred to us and how many days it takes ?

Q4. How much was the safe custody fees approximately ?

Q5. In my area, there are Airtel unlimited plans available like 40mbps @ Rs799 and 100mbps @ Rs1099 included gst.
I want to opt Rs799 plan but I want atleast 60mbps speed.
Does this trick works to increase the speed? Suppose after using 1 or 2 months, if I request Airtel customer care to disconnect my connection & giving them reason that I am not satisfied with 40mbps speed as other ISPs like Jio Fiber are giving minimum 100mbps speed. So I need atleast 60mbps speed. Will this trick work? Few guys online was saying that Airtel broadband customer care is flexible and they do negotiate when customer try to permanently disconnect the connection.

1. No idea. Because, I never extended safe custody.
2. No idea. Because, I never paid security deposit.
3. No idea. I didn't have any money with Airtel to get refund. It was me who had to pay the dues after disconnection.
4. I don't remember. I think it was around 250+GST. Please give a call to 121 to know the exact amount.
5. Yes, it is likely to work.

@pothi can you please share the pic of Airtel v-fiber (VDSL2) service's cabinet box or whatever type of outside box on street from where the copper based DSL cable comes out & go to the customers houses?

@pothi
Q1. like bsnl landline & broadband, does Airtel broadband also charge some late fees if we delay the payment and pay the bill after due date? If yes than how much, just give some rough idea ?

Q2. For new Airtel xstream fiber connection, If we opt 3 or 6 months advance rental plan and after few months of usage if we do not satisfied with the speed or the service and want to disconnect the connection & refund, will they provide refund for remaining months?

Q3. Currently which type of home broadband service you are using, VDSL or FTTH ?
And which company's broadband ?

Q1: No idea. I always paid on time. Never even thought about delaying payment to guess about it.

Q2: No idea. I never paid advanced rental.

Q3: BSNL FTTH.
