Since someone mentioned, I just checked my stats. I was impressed by the number I saw there. Can someone please confirm that I am not mistaken :D

Attainable Rate (Kbps): 27368 Downstream, 1329 Upstream

Why are you flying in the air?

Jameen pe aa jao... we're going no where near 27368 anytime soon. :ishock:

doesnt it have nething to do wid the modem....i mean the modem may be different fr this plan?

The modem will be an ADSL2+ modem. But distance still matters. The longer the length of the copper line from exchange/DSLAM, the less speed you will get. This is a technology limitation and every ISP should inform the customer about this fact in their "Frequently Asked Questions" section on their website.

^ That's sad :( Much less as in how much?

well that depends on distance from DSLAM and line conditions..ADSL2+ supports a max of 24 Mbps but u have to be pretty close to DSLAM n have nearly a perfect line to get that..

Does Airtel still uses Copper line????
Not Ethernet cable???? :S

[/COLOR]simply speaking, you can download at 2MBps on a 16mbps connection.

sounds like you can easily complete 20GB in around 3 hours just by downloading.

This is again on the assumption that you will indeed get 16Mbps - it is likely that you will get much less than this depending on your distance from the exchange. Does Airtel tell you this fact?

I don't know much, but I've heard Download speed = Surfing speed/8.

You certainly wont get 16 Mbps while surfing the net, I had the 8 Mbps connection for a couple of months for average browsing if I could touch around 3-4 Mbps, many of the sites around 70% capped their connection at around 2.5 Mbps.Only with big downloads on premier sites and using download managers I was able to touch around 7.5 mbps, these fast connections also help you with HD streaming but again these connection have data-limits so you need to keep a tab on your usage!
