My airtel connection is horrendous. I cannot remain connected for more than a few minutes at a time.SNR varies from 6 to 12(Downstream), and every 2-3 minutes the modem disconnects (450BX).I have complained many times, and every time the same idiot comes, and he tells me that apartment building wiring is old, so nothing can be done.So should I call up airtel and ask them to disconnect. Will the retention department change our apartment wiring?Since I am in noida, my only other option is BSNL, which can turn out to be worse. So if I do get rid of airtel, is MTNL data card (1650/month unlimited) a good option? I will be happy if I can get around 200 KBps for this price (approx 1.6mbps)

You assume wrong BSNL, as far as BB is concerned is the best ISP in non-metro cities.

Some people in our building have BSNL. They tell me if line goes dead, which it does 2-3 times a year, it can take upto a week for someone to turn up.You probably overestimate Uttar Pradesh :p.

No reliance broadband in our area. Being a reliance Cell phone user, I am scared of reliance. Maybe their broadband connections are better. Here is what I have decided to do.I will file a complaint with nodal officer, and then when they contact me I will ask them whether they can fix the wiring issues or not. I am pretty sure the local "linesmen" do not want to take the pains of doing a line analysis, and are kind of shirking their job. With a "danda" from top, probably, they will do a proper analysis. I find it hard to believe that local apartment wiring is an issue, since BSNL users are getting proper SNR. Common wiring bundles come from gate to the various apartment buildings.I did a physical inspection of the boxes(airtel), and they seem to be in bad shape (copper rusting etc.,)Due to poor air quality, most ACs in our area have problem of gas leakage due to copper corrosion. It think the exposed wiring and contacts have this issue, and Airtel needs to do an infrastructure overhaul for the same.

I don't think so.Is reliance Broadband through cable or DSL?I am going to complain to nodal officer of airtel, and see if the local office starts overhaul of the wiring issues.due to a drain nearby, copper rusting is a major issue in most of noida, and I think this could be the case with airtel box.

Issue still unresolved. They have told me they cannot do anything. I have to tell my apartment association to give a request to airtel for internal line wiring change. So lets see how much time do apartment association guys take, and after that how much time does airtel take.

I am having same frequent disconnection issues. Surfing in the daytime is almost impossible because it disconnects very frequently..In the night time it still disconnects but much less than daytime.Called them like 10 times they still think its something wrong in my PC or Modem. They tried out every option and now they believe its something in the Exchange (only 100 Meters away)...Thinking to switch to Tikona. or Gonna buy a USB Dongle and use Docomo GPRS

Did airtel solve your problem or not I am having exactly the same issue as yours & they are saying to me exactly the same.
