Oh. Get BSNL first. And once everything is settled, apply for Airtel disconnection. There are threads on the forum on steps to get Airtel disconnected properly without any issues. Might require a bit of effort but the results are better. Also read my experience thread on BSNL (too long). You are unlikely to get 4mbps on 4mbps plans. So there are some compromises to be made compared to Airtel. Do what I did... Plan it so that you would apply for Airtel disconnection just a few days into your billing cycle. Consume all the bandwidth in your plan in those days. Airtel would require you to bill by number of days and not amount of data consumed. This would give you enough buffer space to ensure that your connection is discontinued and Airtel does not charge you for bandwidth that you do not get to consume. :D
Wow you made quite a plot there....you really know how to screw the right people dont you?? :P

You gotta do what you gotta do. Planned to consume tons of bandwidth in the last 3 days of the billing cycle. As a result, right now I am on a fuped connection. Pages are struggling to load right now. :D

Apply in writing for disconnection immediately after paying bill....include a copy of the paid bill receipt...hand it over at the customer center,,,,take an acknowledgement. When they realize you take no shit, you give no shit, they will have to stop bullshitting you, :D

As per Airtel Manual-of-Practices they have to stop billing within 24 hours after receiving the request for disconnection,

8.3. Disconnecting Your Line:

[*]In case you wish to surrender your connection, you can log a disconnection request by calling our Contact Center, or sending us and email, or depositing a letter at our Airtel Relationship Center, or by sending us a fax.
[*]Within 24 hours of receiving your request, we will stop the rental charges on your connection.
[*]We will contact you to understand the reasons of disconnection.
[*]Subsequent to that, the connection will be terminated and your case will be processed for full and final settlement of all dues, either from us or from you.
[*]You will have to return the telephone instrument or modem in case it was taken on rent at the time of installation.
[*]Understandably, you will have to clear all outstanding at the time of disconnection.
[*]Full and final settlement will be done within 60 days of receiving your disconnection request. In case we need to refund you any amount, a cheque for that amount (after adjustment of initial payment) will be sent to you on the addressed given by you.

I can understand your pain.I wanted to order something from Flipkart and had to give up(till tommorow).I'm on a BSNL 4Mbps/256kbps 175GB connection.

I'm getting 512kbps here in Chandigarh, post-fup. Seems like they've updated the Punjab region. :D

So now am using airtel around 6 years now.I have plan of 2mpbs/10gb/256kbps until today I started getting 512kbps.I play a huge amounts of online games and also download a lot.So mostly my FUP lasts like 2-3 days at the start of billing cycle and then I suffer that 256ish kbps. That really sucks bad coz @256kbps ,streaming youtube even in worst quality(240p~) buffers sometime.Forums and others wont load and sometime even facebook takes 10-20 secs to load a page. :(Other than speed,am happy with their services.Their customer service is quite fast takes like a day to rectify a problem via their technical guy.My friend has BSNL and must say the guy is suffering a LOT.Unfortunately his area have all airtel slots filled so no for him atm.We both play some online games together and the servers overseas have much bad ping for him.A server in Singapore usually gives me 95 ping~ in airtel but for him @BSNL gets 250+ ping. Also BSNL has frequent Disconnections and sometime it takes more then a day to rectify.
