looks like I am still lucky here, was getting 2mbps for 499 (10gb fup) and after increase 550 per month.not that bad..

Allow me to go on a little rant here. I've been an Airtel customer for the past 4 years, more recently on the 4mbps/25 GB FUP plan, shelling out almost Rs 1570 per month. I was happy to pay a bit extra for Airtel given their quality of service and reliable network. (I used to be on Tata Indicom before Airtel - their God-Awful "broadband" really made me appreciate Airtel when I first moved over). My impression changed drastically the day I got the dreaded "SMS" from Airtel though. It dawned on me that I would now be paying almost 1700 per month for my internet! That was the last straw that broke the camel's back as they say. I immediately started looking out for other ISPs. I had seen ACT's broadband advertisements during my walks day after day for almost an year, but for the first time I felt compelled to so something about it. I now have an ACT connection - which (knock wood!) has been awesome so far. Other people on this site tell me ACT is prone to regular outages - I really hope that's something of the past. I haven't surrendered my Airtel connection yet - in the worst case if ACT turns out to be a dud I'll either move to a cheaper Airtel plan (SIGH) or try BSNL maybe... There's NO WAY I'm going to pay this much for Airtel's plans irrespective of whether or not I can afford it!

Hi Guys,I am using Rs 1099/month plan for my broadband line for the past 1 year. Now for the current Aug-Sept bill, its showing Rs 1188 as rental. I called up the customer care and asked about the change and the guy said there is some ''regulatory change'' in the rentals of everyone and so is the increase. Is anyone aware of any change in rentals for Airtel or did the Airtel guy is making a fool out of me? Till now they only had the courage to change usage plans at will, now seems like they will change rentals at will also. Horrible

yeah. the lesson here is move as soon as you have an alternative option. airtel is just milking their wired internet customers to pay for the losses in 3G/4G/LTE.

When I received the same message from Airtel, I Googled about any regulatory changes which led to increase license fees for Airtel and found that its indeed true what Airtel is saying. But, since MTNL was providing the services without any tariff hikes, I went in for disconnection to which Airtel's response was that we are the first to initiate tariff hikes and others will follow soon. I was not impressed and pressed for disconnection. Thereafter, retention guy called me and guess what he offered me a plan in which I have to pay five months advance rental and the sixth month will be free. So in effect when I calculate, now my per month rent is less than even what I am paying before the tariff hike. But, there is no happy ending because when I received a confirmatory call the next day regarding my plan change request agreed with the retention guy, I was in for a shocker. This guy said that you have given a request to be transferred to a 'X' plan which was the plan I was already on. When I told him that, and the actual plan that the retention guy had provided me, he simply said, "ok sir, I will cancel this request" and kept the phone. The problem is, now I am back to square one. Also, these companies need to understand that there should be only one point of contact i. e. one same person between the customer and their representative this way they can ensure resolutions that are provided reach their logical conclusion. Now, I have again pressed for disconnection and this time I am not accepting any of their offers. I have received nearly a dozen calls from their retention team but I have refused all offers. Meanwhile, I have subscribed MTNL and its performing flawlessly.

Well beam also increased their prices ...by 20rs on my 1000Rs plan :|. Also the biggest hike was of rs 50 ..thats all. Airtel is milking its customers to the last GB they consume.
