16mbps for 2k and 100 GB FUP and I would take it. But knowing Airtel, they will do it in no less than 2028
16 mbps 80 gb comes for 3k+ with taxes

FTTH means Fibre To The Home. The 16mbps depends on the hardware(optical fibres) in your area. The airtel GIS team surveys for feasibility in the area. If the area is found suitable the 16mbps plan is given.
Lets face it, airtel is in it for making profits and not charity. They cannot be laying infrastructure worth lakhs/crores for only one subscriber in the area. The cost is only part of it, there are permissions(right of way from local MC), for digging required, which again do not come without paying any bribes to the municipal officers.

In Chennai, 16 Mbps plans are not officially available. If it's feasible for your line and you make a request, they will double your speed from 8Mbps to 16Mbps for just Rs.100 more. Going from 4 Mbps to 8Mbps to 16Mbps costs Rs.100 for each upgrade at the same FUP.

They provide 16 Mbps on ADSL upon request.

This is only for the 30GB FUP plan. On higher plans, the rate difference is higher. Example, 80 GB on 8Mbps costs Rs. 2099 while on 16Mbps it costs Rs. 2599 - at least, per the rep I spoke to a few days ago

yeah. when i read stories like yours, i realize that what i have is something that is not available as an option to millions of folks in the country even if they are ready to pay for it.
What is it that is needed by millions of Indians for which they are willing to pay for ?

No they give blanket "not feasible" responses to everyone in a locality no matter where the DSLAM is. I'm guessing they're trying to make sure the speeds are almost always guaranteed. I don't think any Airtel customer has ever gotten even 1 kbps below the plan speed so far unless there was a line problem.

Lets c I have sms that toll free number Current plan is 175gb 8mbps fup 512kbpswhat they can offer : ) hopeUpdate 1: not available in kolkata
