Airtel edge internet

Hi People, Please help me choose an internet connection for my home. I want it for my laptop with minimum cost. I am thinking of Airtel Edge since i would only have to a buy a new AIRTEL SIM to get started ? How do I find out EDGE performace in my area ( Mumbai ). I had Reliance CDMA in mind but I heard bad things about it. ( frequent disconnection ) and we all know reliance customer serivce is VODAPHONE EDGE better then AIRTEL EDGE ? Thanks guys

Not sure if one is better than the other but Vodafone is sure a lot more expensive & illogical than Airtel

if ur airtel network tower supprt edge then u ll get good surfing speeds(10 to 15KBps download speed)but if ur tower only support gprs then u ll get 2 to 5KBps download speed

thanks for that quick update guys. I guess the minimum monthly subscription would go to atleast more then 350/- if I choose almost any service. I think Reliance Net Connect would be a cheaper option ?

Airtel edge is better than any CDMA based data access (reliance & Tata). This is specially after I-phone lanuch where airtel has strengthen its data network. Speed of edge depend upon the traffic not only for data but for voice as well. Therfore in peak hours evening etc you will get slow speed but in early morning you get very good speed (download speed upto 22 kbps). Its also depend upon whther you use data card or mobile to conncet. Please ensure that your mobile should have letaed edge class (port-10 or more) if want to access through mobile. For example in Delhi i use airtel edge on move for my laptop. I have HTC touch mobile and use through blue tooth. Howver this mobile has less in class port for edge than my wife's mobile Nokia E50. So on same sim card, I get 50% more speed on nokia e50. Please also note that edge will have higher fluctuation in speed so you can not use voip purpose. But it worth having specially for laptop users and offcourse better than vodafone. I am a happy customer. I have unlimited plan for 499 but now they have closed this plan and do not have any unlimited plan. regds,Ranjeet

vodafone's edge is better than airtel in upe...i dont know abt ncr....during the hutch days they had a list on their site on which cities and highways were edge enabled .....at that time airtel didnt had any edge in upe
