Hey guys thinking of getting Airtel Connection for gaming mainly. Will this CGNAT affect ping and nat type? Also which router should I ask Airtel for 300mbps plan. Dont want to buy separate router since I already have 2 C6
for mainly gaming, even the base 40 is good. CGNAT will heavily affect NAT to strict but not latency. Go for the ZTE, that is what I have been using and is pretty decent. Avoid Sercomm and Dragonpath.
I don't do online gaming, but I have latency sensitive ML tasks and Airtel does significantly better than Jio.
Thanks guys, I had already asked for ZTE and the sales guy said yes its available. Lets see what happens after installation sales people say yes to everything. When Should I pay them. My connection will be their first ever connection in my locality. They went live yesterday.
By "unlocked" I mean I changed the profile from BRTI to "ALCL". I relied on the command injection for SSH access, but they have patched it now. Or I'd have used the iptables. Anyway airtel is upgrading me to the DASAN router now. Yesterday the NOC guy came to my house (yes) because nobody in the support could understand CGNAT, anyway he told me the best way is to get a static IP ( I already knew that)
so, as the router profile is set to ALCL, it seems to have different config for VOIP so the config done by airtel wont work. So they are changing the ONT today
also, they installed the same Nokia one now, and now I'm getting dynamic public IP because the ONT runs on an old firmware. So looks like the CGNAT rollout is done via firmware updates
