well this happens to me several time so i contactet to nodal officer & their head office in delhi my problem solved in 2 days after contacting head office & i got 100 extra back with apologize

Update on my 2000+ extra charges: After talking with customer care for almost 6 days continuously, the charges were finally reversed. I did not pay the bill until this is done. :yahoo:After 5 days, a 'Team Leader' came back saying she can waive a max of 500/-. I refused that option, and asked them to 'escalate' it. After 3 times of going back to the billing department, I finally got the waiver. (Funny thing is, now I know the names of almost everybody in the customer care division that handles my calls! :hysterical: )Here are some tips: Who solves your problem: 1. When you call up customer care, tell them that you want to talk to a 'Group Manager' - Be firm and insist on this, but don't be rude to them. This will generally move things faster. 2. The customer care rep will offer to try to solve the problem him/herself within a day. 3. After this, when you ask for 'Group Manager', a 'Team Leader' will offer to solve the problem. One more day of course. 4. If this is not solved yet, they will generally connect to a 'Group Manager'. However, my problem was solved by the Team Leader. What helps: 1. Treat customer care people with respect. They are just people doing their jobs. Remember that they are not the ones who cheated you. (Yeah, they still represent Airtel, but you get the point) 2. When you give complaint (like when you start getting these unsolicited msgs/charges), note down the complaint number and date. Every single one. 3. Insist that the rep read each of those complaints (give them nos.) instead of they just forwarding the complaint nos. to the billing department. 4. Team Lead can waive a max of Rs. 500/- from bill. For amount over that he/she needs approval from somebody above (Group Manager I presume). 5. Consider that if Team Leader or Group Manager are convinced that you are charged extra, your problem will generally get resolved. 6. If you talked with Mr. X on day 1, ask the rep to transfer to Mr. X when you call them up the next time, because he is handling your problem. They generally do. 7. A loooooooooooooooot of patience. Yes, final option is to talk to the 'Nodal Officer'. Their phone nos./e-mail IDs are on the Airtel website. Seem to help lots of people. (After this is solved, I could not reach customer care for some time. Whenever I select an option to speak to a person, my call got disconnected. :madness: I didn't bother 'cos my problem was already solved by then. But, it is still insane!)

excalibur, throw away ur card as its prepaid or if u love ur no then convert to postpaid then again into prepaid, just to save ur no.But I have fear in mind u might lose more money if u go to postpaid!

On prepaid mobile. the moment i got such an sms (for some crap service being renewed for which i hadn't asked and hadn't been using) i sent a email to [email protected]

Nodal officer in Airtel is a non-functional entity, just for sending automated responses acknowledging e-mails. Well, what can we expect from the worst telco in India:|

thanks for replies guysbut i just talked to airtel people , they say that they won't refund my money but they will try to deactivate the service

i have found that mailing to [email protected] with all the details about the problem helps save a lot of time and money and better option than calling and getting angry and increasing your BP !
they reply within 48 hours and usualy solve the problem!
ANOTHER THING:
I have noticed that airtel has by default "RENEWED" the "on-demand service" on maybe all the postpaid customers numbers, even when they haven't been using it in the first place! These charges are shown in SMS Charges- Others as Rs 30 (and Rs 3 more as taxes).
This is highly un-ethical and illegal! can't we take them to court or TRAI for this mal-practice!:madness:
