Airtel Mobile Office Price Hike

Some 2-3 weeks ago, mobile office charges in mumbai were hiked from Rs. 15/day to Rs. 25/day. monthly subscription is not available in mumbai. you need to keep recharging your balance to continue the service. i know a lot of people who depended on this service but they all have discontinued mobile office after the price hike and applying for sify broadband. surprisingly most of them have sify connection in there building so the cable wallah is only charging them Rs. 500 for the installation charges.

The best thing about airtel mobile office was that it was mobile. it provided a cheap solution for your lappy but since bsnl has evdo service in kalyan which provides unlimited data stream for only Rs. 550/month, some airtel customers are going to switch. bsnl evdo provides 1.5mbps net while airtel gives about 230kbps.

BSNL is doing some great work by providing cheap plans.At least customers have some alternatives.Well..this rate increase has to do with their data card thingy..People are not buying the data cards because of cheap Mobile office..The same goes with idea..They use to have unlimited internet for 5 Rs a day and once their data card was launched, rates went up to 15 rs a day.I seriously hope BSNL provides good service and takes over Majority of Airtel and Idea mobile office customers.:cool2:

Recession is going on for company itself.Reliance will give appropriate answer to Airtel very soon.
make no mistake of taking it as a recession thing for Airtel ...all telecom companies make huge profit ..thanks to one time establishment cost (which is very high offcourse ) but subsequent maintenance cost is very little ...for instance every sms from any network to another which u pay for 50 paise costs 3-4 paise to the company now a days ...and 1 rupee/per min call actually costs less than half of that to the companies ...so they are making huge profits ..mobile division is a cash cow for all network operators (thanks to prepaid system) ....
IF airtel is suffering ..it has largely to do with the mess airtel have themselves created, and shutting down services like unlimited internet through GPRS is a ploy to sell data cards ..which aren't selling at all ...as most of the schemes are kind of contract based ( like in places US,Europe) , buy a data card for 2000-3000/- and pay monthly some fixed amount...which indian consumers are not falling for...
If u were paying attention last 2-3 months Airtel has been dishing out some really "absurd" schemes ....this is just the beginning of airtel troubles ...i hope its not in mess like satyam ...

airtel has been making some real absurd decisions in the recent times.
anyways they are profitable. they have just announced their latest revenue report and they have met the market expectations.
the company is pretty profitable even officially.
