I noticed. Was out in the market. Just could not connect to anything for more than a few seconds.

Aha, that would explain why my phone all of a sudden had a message from google play services saying "Restricted access changed. Voice service is blocked"

Yup. For a second I was confused because I had not heard about any riots in my city

Haha... that message was new for me, got confused as everything was up and running when I saw it so decided to ignore it.

network was useless for me at the time. no signal. came on for a few seconds after a reboot of the phone. that's when i got the message stating that mobile services have been temporary shut down. have never seen such a message before. disappeared before i could take a screenshot.

Mine was more stubborn, took multiple swipes(read stabs) of the screen to get rid of the damn thing.
