Even Docomo is providing connection with upto 21Mbps speeds. When they cannot touch advertised speeds on a DSL line, they would never touch it on wireless. I would say they wont even cross 75% of advertised speed. They will blame it on congestion, signal strength, weather and so on. All these figures are just for marketing purposes and nothing else.I never got speeds exceeding 1Mbps on BSNL 3G (3.2Mbps) even though signal strength is full and tower is within 200Mts range.

Yes they will be providing those speeds but the network is not "3G" its "3.5G" aka HSDPA. They can provide upto 85mbit/s if they have the infrastructure. Although the actual speeds will depend on the number of users per tower and available bandwidth but that is the max possible speed they can roll out.

High-Speed Downlink Packet Access - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

quoting from wiki :

"As of August 28, 2009, 250 HSDPA networks have commercially launched mobile broadband services in 109 countries. 169 HSDPA networks support 3.6 Mbit/s peak downlink data throughput. A growing number are delivering 21 Mbit/s peak data downlink and 28 Mbit/s."

can someone pls let me know which service in Hyderabad is offering or very soon to offer such higher 21 mbps speeds be it through landline or usb stick...i want to purchase one asap pls.

21mbps claims are just that. claims. few mobile companies are even reaching the levels of 7mbps from what i have seen on online reports.

from what i see, that should not be a big deal. even if they are able to deliver half of the top possible speeds, it is pretty good for the first step. 3G is here to stay. these are early days. any company highlighting 21mbps speeds is misleading the customer base. but then, it is marketing gold!

I agree totally that we may get half o even advertised speed...but even then since we cannot do anything and has been like that always - if there is any 7 mbps available or 21 mbps available and i get actual speed of 3 mbps or 10 mbps in each cases; i am far better off....so pls let me know is by any chance any company be it airtel / rel /tata etc started giving such speed internet at Hyderabad?thanks for such participative suggestions :0

Below are the speeds i have got in BSNL, so 7Mbps does not mean, the user will get the entire speed as the bandwidth is shared.

5Mbps speeds are good and it is again tower dependent. Not all towers are 7.2 Mbps. Most of them would give max of 3.6 Mbps. Though BSNL is upgrading their towers.

thanks for the reply...may i ask which BSNL plan u r on right now and is it available in Hyderabad by any chance
