no matter what the airtel presence team told me... their broadband customer support is still better than their DTH customer support.

Unfortunately I've never had to deal with the broadband support... Airtel won't step their holy feet in my locality... have to make do with BSNL for now :'( but that's another tear filled story for another day lol

The Airtel STB takes about 30 mins (on a good day) to start up
I'm 99% sure that your STB's PSU (Power Supply Unit) is busted. Get it replaced with a new one. Call or search JustDial for local business that repair STBs. They'll fix your STB @ reasonable charges. I got mine fixed for 350 INR (on-site service). :)

Hi there. I've a serious problem with my DTH connection, to the point of me considering other providers at this point. The Airtel STB takes about 30 mins (on a good day) to start up, and when reported to the Airtel customer care, we've been told to get the STB repaired at the cost of Rs. 500. It's been just over a year and the STB has been acting up for the better part of 3 months... are all Airtel hardware prone to breakdown this early? I chose Airtel because I thought I'd be provided the best service in the market, but if I've to get the STB repaired (at my own cost) every 6 months, then I'd gladly cancel my account and shift to other providers available today. Any suggestions? Because I'm not going to pay to get the STB fixed... it might break down 6 months later when its warranty expires, and then I'm out of 500 bucks yet again. Even the service engineer sent by Airtel said that this sort of a problem was common with all Airtel STB's. What's stopping me just pulling the *** thing out, selling it to a local kabadiwalla, and gettting another connection instead? Mr. Airtel Presence, if you're reading this, please help me.

because the "Airtel_presence" is not from customer support. They are more like (useless?) PR guys trying to manage the image of their company on the web.

actually no. Airtel_presence is really their customer support team. the other two accounts are the pr ones.
