Hi friends,

I have read some users of Airtel broadband complaining the usage of data by airtel is unfair and surprising. I have not yet got the connection. I have planned to download heavily upto 80 Gb.. and I don't want to pay for cheaters(if they are).

Suppose if I disconnect my airtel BB, will my modem taken back? After how many months I can disconnect my BB? Is there any deposit for getting the connection?
I may disconnect BB and shift for 3G after 2 months.I have planned for BB only for downloads. Railwire comes to my area only after 2 months

bsnl - i think if ur connection is smooth, then no problem, if it goes for some problem, then no care for you?

which one to choose airtel? bsnl?

location : trichy, tamilnadu

Thanks,
Jammy.

from my experience for the last 1 year airtel count data usage by extra 10%.so if i've downloaded 10GB according to software installed on my system then airtel will count it as 11GB.but they do provide good service.i have suffered in the hands of bsnl for so many years.they may be cheap but i am not going for them ever again.

Here is what I learned from my recent experience with the SHODDY BSNL customer care.
  1. Their selfcare portal website allows to submit complaints with detailed descriptions, but the staff who attend to it do not ready anything from it except your tel no. One person will call you and ask for details. If he doesn't understand or cannot solve, he will transfer to another person who in turn will ask for details and so on. They don't read your complaint properly or learn from the previous person who attended to it. Be prepared to EXPLAIN FROM SCRATCH to every person who looks into your issue until you snap and yell at them.
  2. They have ready-made answer sometimes like "Try again. It should be working now because yesterday we had a network issue". That will surprise or irritate you because your problem was there for a week or so, but they feel YESTERDAY'S network issues was the reason behind !
  3. While they are troubleshooting and no solution is found yet, you will receive an SMS at your mobile "Your problem has been resolved and we are closing your complaint xxxxxxx". Now you will be forced to open another complaint to keep them working and round 1 will start again. The same person will call you again and ask to explain the problem. Looks like they have an automated system to close all complaints whether resolved or not or somebody there doesn't want to get caught with unresolved issues and close it in a hurry.
  4. On the other hand, one of my complaints was lying in Open status months after it was resolved, making it impossible to open a fresh complaint in the same category through online portal. However patiently I explained through phone, they took the wrong actions or responded back with idiotic questions making clear they don't listen properly or never understood this simplest case. After multiple calls to BSNL offices and 1500 CC number, at the end of the 4th day, after I have started yelling at them, a new lady attended to it, understood it and fixed it for me. Instead of them finding out who is the right person to do this job, I, the customer, had to do run around in circles and finish it. Much of this drama could have been avoided if the CC staff have been vested with powers to close Resolved complaints.
  5. Their customer care number 1500 is staffed with people who can only read from their screens and nothing beyond that. For everything else, their supposed action is to send to a higher power to fix it or respond with 'contact your local office' and hang up.
  • An employee there gave me a local exchange number to report a problem, but that turned out to be a residence number, not BSNL exchange.
  • Yesterday, I specifically gave my Coimbatore pincode to locate the nearest exchange but I got back a Chennai number. When asked about that, she accused me "Didn't you ask for Chennai number??" as if I provided the wrong information in the first place.
  • Another guy promised he will forward it to his senior who can fix the issue and I will be trouble-free after 5pm that day. 5pm came and went and the next day, I was still holding the problem with no solution. His senior didn't turn out to be a super man I guess.
As long as your connection works good and bill amount is as expected, BSNL is good and you can carry on peacefully. But once a problem comes up and you want to resolve, be prepared to get stuck or run around in circles for a long time.
