I have been updated from Tata Sky since February'10 and were used more then 3 years.
Currently thinking of both DTH providers and to say forum members and others who need DTH service. Its time to have Airtel or Videocon.
AirTel
Pros:
1. Package reliable for both South and North regional viewers.
2. Top-ups easily to add and remove via internet.
3. Can choose your own package with Top-Ups.
For example;
South Supervalue -Rs.110
English + - Rs.45
ESPN+ - Rs. 75 (3 months)
Discovery+ -Rs.20 : total for per month Rs. 215 (include tax) and its comparatively best for other DTH providers.
4. South regional customers satisfaction and added more nowadays even though SUN Direct DTH, one who need english based channels they definitely selecting Airtel /Videocon.
5. Strong recommendation in electronic shops even though Videocon DTH competition.
6. Universal remote helps a lot.
7. More customers happy with customer care and same as TataSky also.
Cons:
1. UI very distracted and can say old age people cant read easily.
2. Better make change as TataSky EPG font and color. Its worth to view during the channel swap and reading information of the program.
Channel Organize:
3. Channels list not comfortable, like tamil viewers can view Podhigai, Sun group channels, Jaya Group channels, Kalaingar group channels, Vijay, Raj and etc.. But, in Airtel starts with Sun,Vijay,Jaya,sun news, Kalaingar and Podhigai......
4. Channels starts with number difficult to under stand. In this mode TataSky played well, Hiddi channels starts with 101, English Starts with 201, Sports 401 and etc.. (starts with 100's) where as Airtel start english channels 135 and english info., 325, Movies starts with 190

5. DD Regional language listed in middle not start with or end.
6. Picture quality my point is very hard. Almost 3 years same settings and changed my Picture, Brightness and Color after Airtel DTH installed. So, till am not sure what happened.
7. Also sound quality not comfortable some channels. Need to verify, is it channel telecast problem or STB problem.
8. Quality of picture and sound best not say excellent. May LCD type more reliable then CRT.. I need brief discussion on this point.
TataSky
Pros:
1. Channel organization best compared to all DTH.
2. Easy to memory channels list.
3. Customer care follow-up even though DTH deactivated.
4. Clear Picture and Sound excellent compared with BIG DTH.
5. Loosing viewers nowadays but till standing with their old wines(package, channels lacks).
Cons:
1. PRICEY... even though one of most channels broadcasters as partner.
2. Not reliable with Top-up or Package or both.
3. Base pack not all combination channels (hindi,regional,sports,english infotainment etc..).
4. Top-Up's not worthy and packages losing some important channels when choosing base packages.
5. Concentrate ACTIVE services instead of channels addition.
6. Very slow to channel addition and the same time channel move out without viewers responses.
So, choose your DTH befrore your needs otherwise life is strain to watch TV.
