Airtel Xstream Fiber Bridge mode

Hi

I am having hard time with Airtel to enable bridge mode. After a weeks call and emails Airtel engineer call me and showed hesitation to turn on bridge mode stating it won’t work, CGNAT, require static IP etc. I read multiple threads in this forum and understood static IP is not required for bridge mode.

Finally the onsite engineer along with some backend engineer said he has enabled bridge mode, but my Internet is not working with configuring the PPPOE credentials on my TP-Link router. Alternatively I tried dial in setup on my Windowslaptop still it didn’t work and the error 651 encountered. I don’t know the next steps. My internet is down for 5 days

I want to achieve - managing of IP address reservation, Parental control, URL blocking etc using my TP Link DecoBE85 router along with a 3rd party firewall.

Because of current Airtel setup and network configuration I am unable to achieve any of above.

Kindly suggest if I change the Titanium 2122A T21 Pro router with simple ONT router or with any ONT to achieve above requirement?

Also I am looking at flashing or unlocking the Airtel router to setup the bridge myself or to scrap the Airtel T21Pro GX router.

Yep, those are basically the steps and no, don't use G7, use G3v1 instead:

If you want to use landline as well, get this device and pray your area doesn't have an ALCL OLT:

That's because if your area has an ALCL OLT, you'd also need to buy a G3v1 to find out the real VLAN.

@tr1k0N4, rather than taking the risk of purchasing a new ONU or ONT—especially since compatibility with Alcatel OLT isn't guaranteed—wouldn't it be more practical to simply set the Airtel-provided router to bridge mode? Or is their any real advantage of using G3v1 and replacing the whole Airtel provided setup?

Brdr, someone who has read enough horror stories about folks asking Airtel CC to enable bridge mode and then going without Internet for weeks due to the fuck-ups that backend folks are notorious for, would never ask anyone to take such a risk lol

Plus, I asked him to go with G3v1 first as it works with any OLT.

@tr1k0N4, what is the difference between G3v1 and VSOL ONU? Which one will be better considering that the ONU should work for other ISP too if required in future and should be future proof, price is not an issue here.

VSOL has a 2.5G port so future-proofing is covered, has inbuilt routing capabilities and last but not the least, ability to change a lot of parameters as compared to G3v1 so I'd recommend VSOL.
