Hi all,

First of all , Sorry about creating new thread for Airtel- Xstream- Pune users, didnt see any user experience thread for pune, so created it.

Wanted to know, from Pune users, how is the ping / latency from Airtel towards the European servers.
I do work in IT, and most of application infra. situated in UK & Germany , as remote desktops (VDI). I have to be available atleast 12 hours and have to use SKype for Business from VDI.

Currently, i am on Mach1 broadband ( Cat5 ) since last 2 years, where pings to indian servers ~30ms & Mumbai pings are less than 5 ms, which seems to be satisfying.
But when it comes to international servers, pings are between 200 to 500 ms, because of this ,i do get lag in skype calls & VDI disconnects frequently.

Recently, Airtel have started operations in my area, not yet in my society. But based on feedback , i can try to get them in my society.

So, if any airtel BB users nearby Wakad / PCMC area can share their feedback about connection stability & latency to European servers ?,
I am mainly looking for Lag free skype calls & consistent connectivity ( Real time mouse hovers :P) .
Any pointers will be much appriciated.

IP address to ping : 160.83.42.85

Thanks

Not from Pune but it looks like Airtel's latency to European servers have increased a bit in the last few weeks. I used to get 130ms to most german servers but now I am getting 170 to many of them.

I had got a call from airtel after I filed a request regarding high pings. They informed me that they are working on the issue and they're trying to resolve the issue by 15 June. I am in a LCO city btw. At least they are acknowledging that there is an issue. Rest isps won't even accept regarding any ping issue and show you a speed test that gives lowest pings.

Thanks Rahul , this is what i was expecting. Its really helpful :)
Cant see any difference in my current ISP and Airtel then,
Although current ISP is local one, but its always approachable & pocket friendly too ( 100mbps annual ~7k)

Very true, if you raise any complaint , they just know about rebooting the router & connect the LAN cable directly to Laptop.
Else, just clean up cache & temp file. Very few will be aware of the issue .

Thats the reason, Airtel is much professional in this manner.

I used Mach1 for 3 years. Never had any complaints. Even during last years cyclone, they were super prompt to restore the services. But in my last 3-4 months of service, I felt they became terrible in support. I had issues with packet drops and I wanted an engineer to visit home and do their checks. I could never really understand how they always said "We are checking from backend and our technical team will get back".

The field engineer called and committed time for visits multiple times but ended up coming to my place after I requested for disconnection.

I moved to TSBB and can say that they have superior technology and least latency but alas, their tech support for any advanced issues (in case of mine - bridge mode, Public IP, etc.) is moronish. Their front line support knows nothing more than resetting passwords I guess. Thankfully, I didn't have to deal with them a lot since TSBB is good. I switched to Airtel Xstream Fiber now, since TSBB has limitations for Public IP and port forwarding.

BTW, you don't see the difference speed-wise, but using packaged services, like from Airtel - is far more advantageous financially. A little more money and you get double speed but OTT benefits.
