Yeah, gmail is AS private as, say, airtel's SMTP, or MTNL's or BSNL's, or whatever.If its SUCH a big issue, probably your own mail server is the way out.
if you guys are so scared about the privacy with gmail then you shouldn't be using it. And FYI privacy on the internet is a very relative thing. Everything will be as private as you wish it to be. Keep all your correspondence encrypted using GPG or PGP. No need to be scared about gmail or anyone
Yaa and if you really need privacy then you would need a to setup your own server + Privale SSL + Encryption of the email itself (With adapted algorithm). But you can definetly not trust public email servers, can gmail work without IT support staff? And IT Support will have full access to any kind of data (excluding passwords since then are never stored in any system).
