Sure this motivates me to go for the fastest possible delivery option. I tend to go for slow mode for non urgent items.

Amazon India has introduced a ₹5 “Marketplace Fee” per order. : india

so it seems that there is also a Rs. 49 discount fee which is also non refundable lol.

Partial cancellation before shipment: If some items in the order are cancelled before shipment, marketplace fee is refunded partially based on the price of the item(s) cancelled. For example, if an order worth ₹500 contains 2 items worth ₹100 and ₹400 respectively and the ₹100 item is cancelled before shipment, then ₹1 fee is refunded to the original payment method or Amazon Pay Balance, as may be chosen by the customer.

The introduction of the marketplace fee, has discouraged me from impulse buying by a lot.
Now I only buy if I’m buying bulk else I prefer buying locally even if that is tedious.

I've accidentally discovered something.
I tried placing the order and payment was via upi but i accidentally entered incorrect upi pin
Now i was redirected for "Payment unsuccessful" and when i tried "Retry payment" it didn't ask me for marketplace fee.

I don't recommend trying this a lot of times since may lead to account ban

What are the exclusions for Marketplace Fee?​

Marketplace Fee will not apply on the following orders or payment instruments:

• Gift card purchases - physical or digital
• Amazon Business (B2B), Bazaar, Amazon Now, Fresh orders
• Digital purchases or payments such as mobile recharges, bill payments, travel/movie ticket bookings, insurance payments, Alexa skills, Fire TV apps, Prime Video movies purchase/rent, subscriptions such as Prime, digital products fulfilled through email, ex: softwares, Apple store codes etc
• Payments made through Amazon Pay Balance

So yep. If you pay something via Amazon pay balance, then no fees.

Yes, I've been using Amazon GCs or the Shopping Vouchers for a while now, no market place fee.
