@gopichandpai: So you're saying different users see different UIs for the same Netflix app version as well? Personally never seen it happen so far. If they were trying to get feedback then such user testing would make sense, but that's not the case here so it's just weird.

So I guess @icecool20 you'll have to wait till Amazon decides to provide the new UI to you...

I guess. with the problems others are facing with the new interface, I would be happy if Amazon does not provide the new UI to me....
It is helpful to see what resolution a video is playing on the screen. I wish Netflix also implements it..
Netflix only has a option to select video from good, better and best but does not actually provide the information as to what resolution the
video is actually playing...
On a different note, I also have a amazon firestick 4k, and it displays the resolution based on the content.
I am wondering why Amazon did not change the interface of their own stick first?

A/B testing is a normal thing that every tech company does to see which one tests positive to decide which direction to take.

Thanks for the link, was interesting to read except for the very technical parts. So it means they're not looking so much for explicit written or other feedback from users; instead they just compare usage metrics to see which version is resulting in more usage and so on. So I guess I was lucky to receive the new UI from Amazon, because other than the missing resolution display I do prefer it over the old one!

Yes, it is helpful, although even more helpful would be the option to let the user actually select the resolution in case he wants to conserve data or prefers the best quality or whatever.

OTOH the rest of the UI changes are positive IMO. Cleaner and far more usable layout both within a show's page as well as outside (earlier categories only had stupid horizontal scrolling of 1 row of titles, whereas big plus now is grid of titles covering screen with vertical scrolling), better FW/RW options etc.
