I dont have any input for the thread title, but i have a suggestion, which can be considered......if u r going to buy another Android phone in some time from now, may be u can do away with backing up smses for now. U have anyways synced ur contacts. When u get ur new phone, u can easily transfer the messages to the new phone.

If you need to backup the sms for future android phone, best app is SMS Backup. It backs up sms to ur gmail account!
