All the interviews, press shots and campaign for Digital India seem less credible when most of us can't even get 2 Mbps fully unlimited.

Google launching wifi hot-spots on our extremely crowded platforms will be DOA. 100 mobiles connected to a single hotspot and streaming youtube can easily bring it down.

First and foremost priority would be to lay OFC (Optical Fiber Cable) before digital revolution takes off in India.

Congress in last 10 years of power blatantly ignored this.

I publicly appeal to you to do something regarding OFC infrastructure.
 
Instead of connecting every Indian to broadband, Modi should look into providing every Indian- clean water, electricity without load shedding, roads without potholes, schools with good teachers and proper infrastructure.
If every Indian gets these things, those who are willing for broadband would anyways get broadband from some provider.
 
Broadband is very small need compared to basic necessities that Indian people desperately need. But work should be made on every front. I don't know what Govt is waiting for.
 
^^ Apparently we are not discussing basic necessities. We already know that is needed. But I am talking pertaining to this digital India campaign.
 
See specifically for digital India, we need fast, reliable, secure and economical connectivity option. Govt cannot turn their face just by sayin, xyz corporate will provide us this quality service and our country will ride digital wave using that.

For example,
On NDLS, the wifi connectivity is provided by a Private party (he is not a telco, nor a service provider.he is like you or me). He has rigged the comple 3.5 km of ndls area and providing a seamless connectivity across all platforms. The IP pool is provided by railtel(as they have a massive setup just next the ndls) around 500mbps of pure bandwidth is always avilable for user group. Individually each user gets around 1-1.5 mbps on fly and occtionally it goes high too all for free 30mins per mobile number.. You can even try it yourself.

The point is, this guy has not charged anything to railways was even given order to deploy the same service across 400 stations for free. This order was placed last year, he completed the setup at 16 stations and now all of sudden, google came in picture and he has been asked to stop the deployment.

The gist of this story is, our country and its citizen do have capabilities to do anything which is needed and without even govt financial support it can be achived but when sudden shift like this happens, a doubt always comes in mind, is it really suppose to happen or just an eye wash.

BSNL can do, they need some backhaul upgrade some setup shift but all that is possiable, but do they really want to do so?.....2mbps, 5mbps....or any other number, is not the point. My point its we people who need to takeup and change. If we have need for something, we have to standup and find ways out.
For example, it may sound absurd but we all can start our own banddwidth point to point setup. Everyone who can become a node and can have a city wide specific area wide p2p network of our own with every node being a pop as well as a forwarded.

This may sound like not do able, but technically possiable and commercially legal to operate as per the law. How much viable to do it (commercially), that has to be workedout. Every great product of todays world was once termed as non viable but someone took stand and made it possible and now we all praise him.
 
lately the job of the government has been of blocking mobile internet services in the name of security. even though our beloved prime minister proudly claimed in a election rally today that everyone has the right to speak what they want to speak.

Practically speaking, how much time it will take to lay OFC in India?? How it's gonna cover every city & villages of the country?? Who's gonna do it, Only Government or will private operators also comes in to picture??

Does anyone given thought about points mentioned above?? And did Modi start working for implementation of the same or not? ( Give honest reply regardless of political alliance).
Lying of OFC is not a task which can be completed overnight.( Even last 10 years of rule of UPA not able to do). Technical experts here better explain this.
So give some time to this Government for working towards it. IF it's not able to do that, then don't elect it in next election. But before that blaming it for every issue, is not justifiable.

Now any other member can disagree with me and term me as "BHAKT". But I am not gonna argue with them, as I am free to express my opinion like they are.
 
I think I prefer to judge this government by what they are doing today. Blocking internet services whenever there is a slight hint of protest against the local authorities. Announcing revolutionary plans which are a joke. Making a mockery of encryption services. Defending section 66(a). Claiming Indians have no right to privacy. And so on. You can keep dreaming about a future that is never going to come. No one is stopping you. But you are going to be mocked on this forum for ignoring the things that are 'actually' happening in this country.
 
i am sick and tired of your attitude. go find a forum where people chant modi's name when they wake up in the morning and when they go to sleep at night.
