India is special for Apple you see... Steve Job came to India and got inspired. We get special treatment from the company for all the charas ganja he consumed while meditating with sadhus here.

LOL. By the way, what's the best way for a friend to ship a phone from SG to IN and is it safe?

usa is simple. no clue about singapore. custom duty might make it not so good deal assuming warranty on iPhones is not global.

Should avoid customs duty some how. Last year, a friend personally brought me an iPad and he did not pay any customs duty. I believe he might have also bought some Macbooks.

Another friend brought an iPhone 6 but he said he removed the phone from the box and kept it in his pocket. He did not pay any duty.

Apple distributor Ingram Micro has informed its retail price partners about the launch price of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in India.

Customs guys usually dont care if you personally carry the devices on you without packaging and all. However once if they get any doubt, they'll plainly ask you to pay customs. Usually one phone, one laptop are allowed for personal use but nowadays even one tablet is allowed

even two units should be safe. as long as they are open and not box packed. you can just say that one is your personal unit and the other is the one provided to you by office.
