There's a isp called Purple...which gives 1Mbps Bandwidth UL at 990....with YouTube streaming at more than 350Kbps And other downloads at regular 150-200Kbps...

I stay on Baner road and had airtel engineers vist the place and confirm that my premise is suitable for their broadband connection.
For lack of choice, i had been using Airtel broadband - 2 MBPS connection for last 4+ years and another 8 MBPS connection for last 1 year or so.
My review in one sentence - i'm desperately looking for an alternative ISP now (that's how i landed on this page).
I'm shifting from Airtel after so long primarily because it's become almost impossible to live with the frequent downtime and lack of committed speed.
Note that both my connections are un-shared ADSL connections which means a cable comes to my home directly from the Airtel broadband box so the speed isn't shared. There are three phases i go through with Airtel broadband;
  • When the broadband is working at its best (about a week in a month), the speed i get on my 8 MBPS connection is hardly 2 MBPS after paying about Rs.1700 each month.
  • The connection goes drowsy for almost like 2 weeks in a month when the speed is intolerable - between 500 KBPS and 1 MBPS
  • Roughly for a week each month, the broadband flickers several times during the day between "on now", and "Opps down now again".

To make the matters worse, their customer service is a nice example of what customer service shouldn't be like.
My work requires me to be constantly connected and at high speeds and it's become impossible to rely on both availability and speed of Airtel broadband connections.
I'm looking to contact Tikona and You broadband. Please reply if someone has experienced these ISPs on Baner road, near D-Mart.
Finally, from my personal experience, i would recommend staying away from Airtel.

Finally gave up on RCOM and applied for YOU broadband day before yesterday.
Was impressed with their service and speed, as i got my connection installed and running yesterday.

Hey dude i have the same problem with reliance... i applied on 19th april... i call'em everyday and mail them alternate days or so but they don't give a XXck.
i also checked with the you broadband and heres the problem...
their rates are very confusing this is the mail i sent to them...
ON website
Rate of TORNADO 12Mbps 12GB 1Month plan-821
1 Month plan installation charges- 606
Modem refundable deposit- 900
so total becomes Rs 2327
But when i try to book it online on the from it displays
Plan Price- 1427* and after discount amt. payable is 1327.
so after 1 month is bill going to be of amt 1327 OR 821???
