Arasu drags Channel Plus to TDSAT for not giving signals
Tuesday - Sep 09, 2008Televisionpoint.com Correspondent | Chennai
The Tamil Nadu government owned multi system operator (MSO) Arasu Cable Corporation (ACC) has dragged Maran brothers promoted Sun TV Network group distributor Channel Plus to the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) for not giving signals, on September 08.

ACC, 100 per cent owned by the state government, has also filed similar petitions against two others distributors - MSM Discovery, which distributes Sony and Discovery group of channels; and Star Den Media, the distributor of Star India and Viacom18 group of channels.

In its petition, filed through advocate Meet Malhotra, ACC alleged that it had approached the broadcasters for their channels, but failed to get any positive response and they tried to delay the issue.

"Way back in November 2007, the petitioner has initiated the process of request of signals from broadcasters, including the respondent's principal (Sun TV Network). However, the respondents completely denied the receipt of the request," the petition said.

Today on September 09, TDSAT has issued notice to Channel Plus to reply on a petition filed by the ACC as to "why signals of the channels were not being given to the MSO."

The petition against MSM Discovery and Star Den also, came up for hearing in front of the three-member tribunal – chairperson Arun Kumar, members J S Sharma and G D Gaiha. The tribunal has posted the hearing to October 24.
