Are router power-backup solutions a good buy?

So I've been working from home for a year or so and its annoying when there's a powercut and the power backup takes under 5 minutes to come back on.

During this I usually start my phone's hotspot and work via that for those 5 minutes or so. But its kind of annoying.

So then I came across router power banks which basically give power backup for a couple of minutes till the mains comes back. But honestly its a solution for such a trivial issue that I'm not sure if it's going to be a smart or silly purchase 🤣

Link to one such product: Oakter Mini UPS for 12V WiFi Router Uninterrupted Power Backup for WiFi Routers During Power Outage Upto 2 Hours Power Backup to Wi-Fi Router 12V up to 3A (Assorted Colour) : Amazon.in: Computers & Accessories

Has anyone been using something like this? And is the peace of mind worth it?

Solution
Yep, it works well. I had my network gear running on two of these router UPS units for over a year. Used to get 3-4 hour backup times too. You can look at Cuzor as well, one of the first such devices to come.

Switch over time it pretty quick, router/modem stays online.
And if anyone is looking for extended power backup DC UPS, then there are models from Meanwell. I currently use a DRC-100A, costs about 3k and you can connect a bigger SMF battery (I use an 18 AH battery)

There are 40W and 60W variants too. You can mount it on a wall easily using a DIN rail.
where did you buy it from and how did you get installation done ?

Bought this for the Nokia router provided by Airtel. Arrived earlier today. I put it on charging at around 3pm. Took a few hours for light to turn green. I switched off the power at around 6pm. Around 2 hours later right now, router is still working.

The thing is not very good though. Manual is pretty stupid. A lot of things make no sense. It does power through so even if you turn it off, router would continue to work with main power working. I really do not understand the purpose of the off button on it lol.

Silly question but are the router backups you guys bought connected to power while providing the output to the router? Ie can I plug the machine to the socket and also to the router at the same time?

One machine I checked on Amazon would either charge it's internal battery or provide power to the router, but not do both simultaneously.

i have the device connected to power supply. though i did ask fufaji (where it is installed) to turn off the power every couple of weeks for the battery to be used for a few hours because they do not get too many power cuts in janakpuri. and without regular discharging, it would probably die faster.

So yours is supposed to be an instant switchover right? Ie when the light goes it instantly switches over to the battery? Also, can you send a photo of the pin that goes into the router? Trying to see if it'll fit mine, thanks!

I don't have this device at my place. It worked fine on the Airtel's Nokia G2425G router. The device comes with four different type of connectors iirc. Photos should be on the product listing. Use the search feature on reviews section. It's likely someone would have already confirmed if it worked on that model.

Nokia router connected to the default connector at the bottom left.

This is from when I tested the UPS at my place before setting it up at fufaji's place. Same Nokia router at both places.

What's the cheapest option for something like this? I just want instant failover.. Don't care about the backup duration.

my ont is connected to a APC UPS(along with some other stuff, Total wattage around ~50W). When voltage fluctuates or during power cuts the ONT reboots for some reason. The switch and Router that also connected to the same UPS continue to work perfectly fine.

I can't figure out what it is. I contacted genexis and they said they'll look into it and get back to me by Monday.

i doubt this would have better circuitary than a proper ups. only error-free solution is to get an online ups i imagine.

i am not sure if the router is running on battery power even when power source is connected tbh.
online ups runs on battery full time from my understanding.
