there are a few issues but this phone looks fantastic. i wonder if it would come to india. flipkart does have an official listing for 8z but it's not in stock.

8z came very late, and seems in limited stock. Same might repeat with 9.

It's amazing more companies don't think about making small and light phones with flagship specs. I think only this and Galaxy S22 are currently available.

One issue is that Asus only promise 2 years of software updates I believe, which is a shame considering they use stock Android

i don't even mind 2 years of software updates. if the company can delivery two major android updates (and not use two year time period as an excuse to not releasing second major android update), it's pretty great considering the state of the android segment currently. the problem with Asus on this flagship phone of theirs is that even security updates are limited to two years. android has reached a stage where newer versions are becoming more of a nuisance than actually useful. security updates on the other hands should be provided for at least four years.

Google needs to be more stringent on this. They can easily force manufacturers to provide at least 4-5 years of security updates else threaten to block Google apps on the phone. This will help their image as well as Android doesn't have the best reputation for malware

Asus Zenfone 9 is said to launch in India on August 23rd, which is tomorrow. The handset may debut in the county as ASUS 9z since it\'s not allowed to use Zenfone branding.
