10 reasons why auto rickshaws should be banned in Delhi.1) They do not know how to drive.2) They do not drive in a single lane.3) 95% of autos do not have their indicators working and they turn left/right without indicating.4) Their back-lights never work, so its really un-predictable when will they apply break. Hence we have to maintain a good amount of distance from them.5) Most of the auto rikshaw drivers drink and drive at night hence its very risky to hire an auto at night time.6) They rash drive even on busy roads.7) They do not obey traffic light rules.8) They overcharge the public.9) 98% of the autos are not ready to go on meter. They ask for a random and absurd amount of money.10) They create a mess on roads resulting to traffic jams.So how many of you agree me on this and how many of you do not and why?

Mumbai auto guys are not best but ok.(i.e. not bad either). but then sometimes u r in a fix when u want to go to particular area and noone is ready, no matter even if u offer extra money. u just cant do anything but wait for some autowala to say yes and that can take even half an hr!!

^ oh yeah, that happens quite a few times. a couple of times i asked an autorickshaw wala who was just sitting in the auto at the autostand doing nothing, to go to a particual place, that autowallah lethargically looked at his watch and then said no. is there supposed to be some kind of mahurat to go to that place?

no actually some rickshaw walas have to deliver rickshaw back to their owner b4 certain time. not all of them can afford to buy own vehicle, so they themselves take it on hire.

Wow he knows the inside story!:S

^^ well thats true but its breaking the law. the law says that if a rickshaw driver has kept the meter high, i.e. for hire, he has to accept the customer irrespective of the location to which he wishes to travel or else he can even be booked.

i agree, but this is in the afternoon time. also the place where i wanted to go wasnt far.

i think mumbai rickshaws are better than delhi 'coz its always on meter. but the only problem is that they are tampered!!:frown:

every rickshaw wala breaks the law, unless u catch a hawaldar nearby. but sometimes even hawaldar says, "aamhi kai karu sakat nahi" (marathi = we cant do anything)but tampered meter. i dont think they are tampered that much. because its very rare that i see a meter charging extra on my regular route. its always 12-13Rs. so either every1 has tampered meter or hardly any1 has tampered meter.
