HDFC has sent so far 10 sms to me reminding to use PIN at retail outlet shopping. I got their point in 1st sms, still they keep on spamming :nonchalance:

Same goes for ICICI bank for me. I have got atleast half a dozen from them.
On a separate note, I have decided to have my debit card cancelled and get an ATM card instead. Hopefully would initiate that in a week or so.

Cool :D I thought they forced it on their customers.
I do not think Yes Bank application form had any option for ATM card instead of Debit Card. But then I prefer debit card so I did not look too carefully.
Old question... I am guessing you cannot use HDFC ATM Card in other bank's ATM Machines? Can you?

I am not sure.. I would definitely ask that question to them. So you think they would not be linked to Visa/MC & hence would work only there?

Dunno. I thought even ATM cards had VISA or MasterCard logo in later days. Only initially did they lack any third party branding.

Right, thats what even I think - if they are linked to Visa/MC I see no problem in using in applicable ATMs.
So, basically I am stuck with waiting from my HR to get back or loosing a 100 bucks for resetting my pin then? I think I need to rephrase the question - Has Ratnakar Bank too mandated pin in line with RBI requirement by now.

:D The ruling applies to all banks since December 1.
Just go out. Buy something. Try paying with that card. If it works great, if not pay cash :P
You are not going to get jailed like in American movies for using a dysfunctional card :D

lol.. yeah, I guess
Seems the HR also dont have much idea and they got without ATM pin, and they would be reaching out to the bank representative for the ATM pin /facepalm
Update : They were able to have my Email ID/mobile registered through the bank representative & then I generated an IPIN & did an online transaction (Loaded money into Airtel Money basically) .. So, one less worry for me here.

Applied for an ATM card at hdfc. Told them don't use much and not comfortable at using PIN at POS. Gave me a form to fill and said ATM card will be couriered to address in a week and debit card would get deactivated.

Me and my friend went for shopping yesterday. When the machine asked for password my friend simply "by passed" it by hitting the "Enter" key :scared:. He specifically informed the bank to bypass coz he don't remember the PIN number :russianroulette:
